The entrance hallway is amazing. Giving a great first impression.
The visitor book gave a feel if a really friendly place to stay. I was happy I chose here as a big tick on my bucket list visiting the Jurassic coast.
I was nicely surprised to see i had been allocated a room with a double bed.
The room was spotless.
There was an information folder as expected advising of the facilities available, which were to my expectations when booking last year.
I was looking forward to meeting the hosts and experiencing their hospitality as reviewed many times with exceptional ratings, and the reason I chose here as a single traveller.

Fish and chips on the front were superb, and there are lots of nice cafes. The pier is invigorating with fantastic views, the steam train station within a short walk, and a lovely long promenade to walk. There are a good number of welcoming pubs, and a variety of restaurants including pizza, mediteranean cuisine, indian takeaway, burgers, and wonderful bakeries offering Dorset apple cake, pasties and pastries.
Lots of interesting shops with Jurassic keepsakes, RNLI gifts, and antiques. There are supermarkets, a chemist, and cashpoints. Once down in the town and at the seafront, it is pretty flat, so easy to get a round, but the hills can make it a difficult climb back after a day on the beach!

Great traditional sea side town full of everything a family would need for a good holiday.
So many kinds of take away food, restaurants and chippies. Brilliant choice of shops for all tastes.
Steam train trips. Boat trips and crabbing in the small harbour.
Very long sandy beech and beautiful walks to be had along the bay and cliffs.
Bird watchers will enjoy the bird colonies along the cliffs.

Out of season Swanage is still charming. Small enough to walk round, but large enough to have a variety of shops and eateries. The Salt Pig was good for eating in. You can walk the coast path amongst other walks.

we only had two full days in Swanage in the middle of November, so our experience was not typical, We did look to drive into the town and park on the road by the side of the seafront, however the parking charge of £4.30 for the first hour put us off, who wants to benefit from 3 hours at £7.00 in November. As we didn't use the town car parks we cannot comment on the charges in them.
My husband has bad knees so we didn't park and walk around the town but there did seem to be some interesting little, individual shops as we drove through, We found Corfe Castle a delight to visit, especially the NT tea shop! We hope to go back.

I've stayed in Swanage several times and this reflects my like of Swanage and the surrounding area.
The Town / beach / numerous eating options / the compact layout of the Town makes it easy to navigate. Also great walks in and around Swanage for short strolls or longer treks.
Can't say I would have anywhere that I would avoid on subsequent visits.
Our room was very nicely appointed with a generous bathroom. The bed was very comfy and we slept well. The receptionists and staff were most friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our motorbikes and our luggage at the hotel past check out time, while we explored Swanage which was very helpful. The cooked breakfast was very tasty. The garden at the rear of the property had a lovely sea view and access down a (long) stairway to the beach. At the end of a cul-de-sac in a residential area the hotel was in a very peaceful location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Railway Cottage . It was clean and well equipped for the few days we were there . A perfect location just a short stroll into Swanage town and seafront . We stayed in a small double room and I thought the space had been utilised really well. Bed was comfy too . My son and Grandaughters stayed in the family room next to ours and it was very well equipped and set out . We visit Swanage every year and would definitely choose to stop here again . The front garden was so pretty too .. love the lavender !
Decoration of the house was great, the property was close to the sea and shops. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed and more. In terms of location there were some nice places in Swanage, but the town needs a bit more investment and it would be nice if the architecture of some of the buildings complemented its surrounding a bit more. Beach was ok but not impressive. The best parts were the costal paths. Corfe caste / village and Worth Matravers worth visiting
The Rookery is in an ideal location within easy walking distance of the beach and the town of Swanage. The hosts were very welcoming and went to great length to explain everything about the hotel and the location. The rooms were comfortable and decorated to very high standards and the ensuite was well equipped although has to be described as 'cozy'. Breakfast was well organised, tasty and of a high standard.
Everything and a lovely ground floor room ideal for the dog. Lovely garden overlooking the bay absolutely stunning. The evening meal and breakfast were both faultless, lovely food. Also doggy friendly and steps from the garden down to an all year round dog friendly beach, this was fantastic! The decor was also very nice, we loved this hotel and will return.
Everything !!! Swanage Haven is just that - a haven. From the moment we first crossed the threshold we knew that we had chosen a gem for our first stay in this part of Dorset. we have stayed in many B&Bs over the years and Swanage Haven is up there with the best of them. Thanks Tina and Amanda for a wonderful stay.
We were fortunate to arrive when the small car park had a space.
The breakfast was cooked to order placed the night before and was excellent.
Our room was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable.
The check in and check out procedures were the best I have ever experienced when staying in any hotel.
The apartment is centrally located in the heart of Swanage, ideal base for exploring Dorset's Jurassic coast. The apartment is spacious and one of six in the block. It has a well equipped kitchen and spacious rooms. The apartment is well presented with modern fixtures and fittings.
The flat was unexpectedly spacious with a huge balcony giving glorious views across Swanage.
There was a very nice welcome pack and it was a great flat for a family stay in Swanage .
It was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable.
Lovely spacious property, very close to town centre, beach etc. Plenty of kitchen equipment, tea towels, loo rolls and bath towels. Comfortable beds. Owners very quick to respond to queries and left a home made cake for us on arrival!
Alan & Charlene are exceptional & accommodating hosts. The room & shower room were modern & really well presented. The breakfasts are amazing, made with the best ingredients. The hotel proximity to Swanage seafront & town is perfect.
Great host, very friendly and helpful. The apartment is lovely, very stylish and spacious. The location is right next to the sea front, and handy for pubs and restaurants but also quite secluded and quiet so a great mix.
I would like say huge Thank You to lady who let me stay very late in night after I found out my previous booking was canceled.
The property is in great location, not far from beach, such a nice room. Thank You!
Lovely welcome from Rob.
Really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and huge. Wonderful sea view room. Bedding all clean. An excellent place to stay in Swanage. Check out the paneled Sitting Room.
The location is brilliant. Beds are comfortable. There is everything you need in the kitchen. Lots of space. Matt is usually very responsive and sorts and issues.
This hotel is nicely located to restaurants, shopping and the beach. Room was adequate for two people, bathroom was clean. Staff friendly but not in your face.
